I just can’t get excited about a new event when we’re still waiting on the other one to be finished.

Yeah life, fine. But I’m tired of hearing “we’re almost done” when they’re already pushing a new event in our face.

Nnnnmmmmgh. But the ‘cave event’ thing isn’t a site…

Reblogging this one again, because I can’t seem to do it from your other new post? Tumblr is weird, and I don’t get how it works sometimes-

Sapphy’s event is not being run by staff. It’s being run by three regular users and is getting items made for it my Myly. And if you read Sapphy’s reply, it’s stickied because Myly did it. It’s still being run by users. 

This other thing that apparently Ama and Firky have been planning for a while is being run by a Mod and a Writer (or two mods, as I said, I don’t know what’s going on). They are staff, thus it’s not user-run, it’s staff run. And the thread that was posted was not the event thread, it was a preliminary “hey this is happening” thread. Sapphy’s thread of a similar nature was not stickied. 

So yes, Sapphy’s event is user run. It’s being run by users. No, Firky and Ama’s event is not user  run, it’s being run by staff.

And Ayasha never suggested that anyone wait for Sapphy’s event to end before starting something new. Not only because of its duration but because of its limited nature. A LOT of people simply can’t participate because of personal reasons. She asked that they wait until Sapphy’s event was very underway before adding a whole ‘nother layer of event on top.

And I fully agree with Ayasha. I’m already burned out and I’m not even actively playing right now. 

How are staff not users though? Yes Firky’s a mod, but that doesn’t make it a site-event.
And my post about the OCT not being a user-event was purely sarcastic. It’s posted in the ‘User-Run Contests’ board. I’m guessing Firky/Ama event will be too. Both are sticked. Both have ‘custom’ items. Neither of them have any design input by admins. Glitch isn’t running them. Myla isn’t running them.

They aren’t site events. They’re user events.

And the event hasn’t started yet anyway. It’s a teaser ‘let you know something is coming’ post. How do you know it won’t start for another three weeks? (aka once the OCT is ‘underway’)

I know I felt upset because I couldn’t participate in Sapphy’s event. Judging by the posts here I’m not the only one.
I’m taking Firky’s post as a notice of “Hey guys! There’ll be another event in the future so don’t be bummed that you can’t participate in this one.”

Okay, I was trying to decide whether or not to respond but eh, why not. I do want to say that this is not an official mod response, not an official writer response, not even Firky’s response – this is my, Ama’s, response (and one that I will probably regret posting but c’est la vie).

Firky and I, we’ve wanted to run this game for a Long Time. We started planning it actually around V-Day if you can believe it. But then, after V-Day, we had the RP Event so obviously, we couldn’t run both at the same time (and planning + grading for the RP Event took precedence). Then we had the RP Event response survey which said people would like seeing things run more often in the summer – sure! We didn’t mind that at all, it seems like the perfect time to run it . But then Sapphy’s OCT was launching in May – we couldn’t do that at that time slot either. So we were at a conundrum. If we waited for Sapphy’s event to be over – based on her current time schedule – it would take over two months and welp, there goes the most of the summer. Then come Fall and there’s the Biggest Digis Event. Then what? We wait till next year and the whole circle repeats itself?

Furthermore, both of the RP and the OCT are both writing/art heavy. I know we’re a really writing-centric site, but not everyone on the site does write or is comfortable sharing their writing and same goes for art. How about them? That would have been two ‘events’ in a row they haven’t been able to participate and to them, once again, another boring Digis summer.

Also – since this seems to be a problem, I was the one who suggested the thread be stickied to Firky, my ‘mod powers’ are/were only for the RP Event and once that is officially wrapped up (broken record: soon) my name will go back to being Writer Red.

So please, I guess my bottom line is, give us a shot. /two cents
